Hull City 0-1 Sunderland – Match Report

A beautiful goal from Wilson Isidor secures all 3 points at the MKM Stadium to climb back to the top of the league.

The goal was met with some controversy, as referee Bobby Madley, got in the way of a Hull player following a corner, which resulted in a Sunderland counter, and Wilson Isidor ran almost the full length of the pitch to dink the ball over the ‘keeper.

It was a cagey affair, with very little chances for both sides, with Hull only having 1 shot in the first half, despite being the home side.

However, despite Hull having few chances, they defended very well and didn’t allow the Black Cats to create many real chances either.

The most prominent part of the first-half came right at the end, when a ball came over the top and Chris Mepham appeared to clip the ball with his hand, as it diverted back to Patterson, but nothing was given.

The first 20 minutes of the first-half were a lot more eventful, as Hull came very close to taking the lead after starting the half on the front foot.

Chris Bedia sat O’Nien down and hit an absolute thunderbolt, which slammed against the crossbar, and it was the closest Hull came to scoring a goal.

But their pressure meant nothing in the end, as moments later Wilson Isidor scored the only goal of the game to secure all 3 points.

With Sunderland climbing back to the top, Hull staying 14th, 6 points away from the play-offs, and 4 points away from relegation.
