Sunderland 2-0 Watford – Match Report
The Black Cats make it 5 wins in 6, as they comfortably beat Watford 2-0, thanks to a stunner by Niall Huggins and a headed goal by Abdoullah Ba.
It was a pretty steady first half, with both teams cancelling each other out, but a moment of magic by Niall Huggins broke the deadlock.
He picked up the ball on the right-hand side, drove into the box and smashed the ball into the back of the net, via the bottom of the crossbar.
It was comfortable for Sunderland in the second half, and they always looked the more likely to double their lead.
The first chance came from a Patrick Roberts delivery from a free-kick, that Dan Ballard just headed over the bar.
Moments later, Abdoullah Ba doubled the lead after getting on the end of Jobe’s headed cross.
Adil Aouchiche almost got his first goal for the club, but the goalkeeper took the pace off his shot, and it was able to be cleared off the line.
Sunderland began to frustrated Watford, and they ended the game with 10-men.
Ryan Andrews saw red with 3 minutes remaing after wiping out Jack Clarke with a high challenge.
Sunderland remain in 4th, 6 points off Ipswich in second. And Watford drop down to 21st, just one point away from relegation.
