Key Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests on a range of vehicle makes and models
- Ensure vehicles meet current legal, safety and environmental standards
- Carry out pre-test inspections and identify potential issues
- Accurately record MOT test results
- Clearly communicate findings to customers
- Maintain the MOT bay and ensure equipment is clean, calibrated and operational
- Complete work efficiently and within appropriate timescales
- Work as part of the automotive service team
- Carry out vehicle repairs and servicing
- Perform vehicle diagnostics
- Keep up to date with changes to MOT regulations and technical procedures
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and automotive systems
- Previous MOT Tester or similar automotive inspection experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to safely carry out heavy lifting when required
- Full UK driving licence is essential
- Clean driving record preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Commitment to high standards of safety and quality
About The Role
alexscottcars is recruiting a permanent, full-time Motor Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester at its workshop on Morpeth Road in Choppington.
The successful candidate will carry out MOT testing, pre-test inspections, vehicle repairs, servicing and diagnostics across a variety of vehicle makes and models. The role will also involve documenting test results accurately and communicating findings to customers.
