About The Role:
Boni Italian Coffee Bakery is looking for a dedicated Bakery Assistant to join its team at the Metrocentre in Gateshead. The role involves helping prepare and bake Italian-style pastries, cakes and other baked goods while maintaining high standards of freshness, presentation and food safety.
This position offers an opportunity to develop baking and food production skills in a busy bakery environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing and baking pastries, cakes and other baked goods.
- Measure and mix ingredients accurately.
- Keep the bakery workspace clean and organised in line with food safety requirements.
- Operate bakery equipment safely, including mixers, ovens and proofing cabinets.
- Package finished products for sale or delivery.
- Follow recipes and production schedules to complete orders on time.
- Monitor ingredient and supply levels and notify management when stock needs replenishing.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
Candidate Requirements:
- At least one year of baking experience is required.
- Previous experience in food production or a kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and practices.
- Basic understanding of baking and food preparation techniques.
- Experience using mixers, ovens and other food-handling equipment is an advantage.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Good attention to detail to maintain consistent product quality.
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions accurately.
- A reliable and organised approach to work.
