Church Street Dental Practice is looking for an experienced, reliable and motivated Dental Decontamination Assistant to join its friendly dental team in Houghton-le-Spring.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in dental decontamination and a strong understanding of infection prevention and control procedures. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and patient safety are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean, disinfect, inspect, package and sterilise dental instruments.
- Operate and monitor autoclaves and washer-disinfectors.
- Maintain accurate decontamination records and equipment checks.
- Keep the decontamination room clean, safe and organised.
- Follow infection prevention, control and health and safety procedures.
- Ensure instruments are stored safely and correctly.
- Monitor stock levels and report equipment faults.
- Support the dental team with the smooth running of the practice.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience in dental decontamination.
- Understanding of infection prevention and control in a dental setting.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A reliable, professional and conscientious approach.
- Hepatitis B vaccination, with evidence of vaccination and immunity status where available.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional standards.
