About The Role
Tesco is looking for a Shift Leader to join its store team in Ashington. The successful candidate will help lead colleagues, deliver excellent customer service and support the smooth day-to-day running of the store.
You will work across different areas of the store, provide guidance to colleagues and take responsibility for leading the store in the manager’s absence.
Working Hours
The advertised availability windows are:
- Monday: 6:30am–3:30pm
- Friday: 6:30am–3:30pm
- Saturday: 1:15pm–10:15pm
- Sunday: 1:15pm–10:15pm
Shifts will be scheduled within these availability windows, with at least three weeks’ notice. Tesco guarantees a minimum of 16 hours per week, although roles with fewer hours may also be available.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the team to deliver an excellent in-store customer experience.
- Work across store departments and help colleagues with day-to-day operational queries.
- Build positive and inclusive relationships within the team.
- Lead the store in the manager’s absence.
- Make balanced decisions and adapt to changing priorities.
- Coach colleagues, provide feedback and demonstrate excellent customer service.
- Motivate the team to achieve strong results.
- Look for ways to improve service for customers and the local community.
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Previous team leader or management experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
- A strong commitment to customer service.
- The ability to lead, motivate and support colleagues.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to build positive working relationships and create an inclusive team environment.
- Confidence making decisions and managing changing situations.
- Must be aged 18 or over.
