Millfield man gets suspended sentence for sending “transphobic” messages to transgender woman

A Millfield man has avoided prison after he sent abusive messages described as “transphobic” to a transgender woman

Brian Griffiths, 35 of Rose Street, Millfield, had an online spat with the individual after an online quiz competition he organised. The transgender person won the competition.

However, an argument ensured and he reportedly called them a “f****** idiot”, a freak and said “you’re a “f******” man.

Griffiths pleaded guilty to sending the messages. The victim, who felt “targeted and intimidated”, said: “He had no respect for me and continued to be abusive to me.”

He was given an 18 month suspended sentence.
