Northumbria police are appealing for witnesses to a suspected robbery in Sunderland that allegedly took place at 7pm on Saturday at a Spar store on Ewesley Road.
The social media appeal reads as follows:“A man entered the store and threatened staff, before stealing money from the till. Nobody was injured but staff members were left shaken. We want to speak to a woman who was entering the shop at the time when the offender – wearing a motorbike helmet – pushed past her and made off.
It was reported that the offender was 5’8, of slim build and of mixed race. He is believed to have been wearing a dark jacket.
