Sunderland 0-1 Hull City – Match Report
Another underwhelming performance from the Black Cats sees them lose their unbeaten record against relegation strugglers Hull City.
An Anthony Patterson own goal gave the Tigers a well deserved and much needed 3 points.
A corner was whipped in and Patterson, unchallenged, failed to catch the ball and deflected it into his own net.
Sunderland almost got an equaliser straight away, but Luke O’Niens headed goal from a set-peice was offside.
Other than that , the home side never really threatened Hull, with a lot of side ways and backwards passing.
Hull came close to doubling their lead a few times, and they also had a goal disallowed in the 2nd half.
Former Boro man, Matt Crooks scored with a beautiful back-heel after a scramble in the box, but he was caught offside.
Patrick Roberts came relatively close to stealing a point, right at the death, but his shot went just wide of the post, and it turned out to be the final kick of the game.
Sunderland fans voices their frustrations at the final whistle, after yet another below-par performance.
Sunderland stay 4th, 8 points from Sheffield United in 2nd, who play Leeds on Monday night.
Hull City have now moved to 3 points above the relegation places, with a couple teams below them kicking off at 3pm.
Next up for The Black Cats is Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night at Hillsborough Stadium.
