Regis Le Bris keeps up his 100% league record, an an impressive victory over Burnley, as Sunderland leapfrog The Clarets’ to go top of the league.

Romaine Mundle stepped up after being called upon, following the departure of Jack Clarke, and scored the only goal of the game to secure all 3 points.

Sunderland dominated throughout the game, and Burnley looked bamboozled in the first half an hour, then after 26 minutes, Romaine Mundle cut inside and smashed a shot across the ‘keeper and into the bottom corner, after Patrick Roberts’ hit across the area that found it’s way through to him.

Burnley only really had 1 major opportunity throughout the match, and it came with a header from Hountondji that went just wide of the post.

It was a nail-biting end to the game for Sunderland however, as Dan Neil received his second yellow card of the game and was dismissed with 5 minutes left.

Neil was booked in the first half for descent, and then again in the 85th minute after a late challenge on Amdouni.

The Black Cats now sit at the top of the table, only Watford have also won all 3 of their first games, but Sunderland remains the only team in the Championship to have not conceded a goal.

Regis Le Bris now has 3 wins in 3 league matches, life is good!

Next up is Portsmouth away before the international break, and Sunderland’s next home match is against Middlesbrough on 21st September.
