Sunderland 1-2 Huddersfield Town – Match Report
Sunderland struggled to find the back of the net once again, as they lose 2 games in a row against struggling sides.
The Black Cats now sit in 11th in The Championship, 4 points adrift of the play-off places.
Despite the visitors scoring just 2 goals in their last 5 matches, it didn’t take too long for them to take the lead at The Stadium of Light.
It was a slow start to the game, but The Terriers took the lead through a set-peice.
The ball was lifted in towards the back post, and Tom Lees headed the ball across, and all Helik had to do was head it into an open net.
Sunderland equalised just before half-time, with almost a carbon copy of Huddersfield’s goal.
Patrick Roberts floated in a deep free-kick, and Hume headed it in towards Jenson Seelt, who knocked it towards O’Nien who finished from about a yard out.
In the second-half, Sunderland had a few chances to take the lead, the main one coming from Jobe Bellingham.
For once, Luke O’Nien played a wonderful ball in behind to Jobe, who was 1 on 1 with the ‘keeper, but the ‘keeper saved well.
Just 4 minutes later, Huddersfield scored the winning goal, due to some very poor defending.
Jobe actually put in a good tackle, but the ball somehow found its way through to Delano Burgzorg, who finished brilliantly after Trai Hume and Luke O’Nien seemed to stand and watch.
Sunderland have now won just 2 games in their last 8, as they travel to Millwall on Saturday, in a desperate attempt to turn their form around.
