Sunderland VS Everton – Match Preview & Prediction

The Black Cats host Everton for the first time since 2017, as they look to build on their impressive victory away at Chelsea last time out.

A win for Sunderland would see them go 2nd in the table after 10 matches, unbelievable to think about, really.

Sunderland and Everton fans have a close relationship with each other, that is to an amazing young boy, Bradley Lowery.

Bradley was mascot for Sunderland in a match against Chelsea in 2017, and captured the hearts of football fans across the Premier League.

Everton Football Club donated £200,000 to the foundation, and invited him to be mascot for a match, and he walked onto the pitch with former Everton striker, Romelu Lukaku.

Former Sunderland ‘keeper and boyhood Sunderland fan, Jordan Pickford will face his former club tonight, for the first time since 2017, when he left to join Everton for £30 million following The Black Cats’ relegation.

However, former Sunderland boss, David Moyes, will also be returning to the Stadium of Light for the first time since he left the club following their relegation from the Premier League, so I doubt he will be in for a good reception like his goalkeeper.

Sunderland have won just 1 of their last 5 meetings with Everton, losing 4, with their last victory coming in that famous day, when the Black Cats won 3-0 to secure their place in the Premier League and send their arch rivals down to the Championship.

A win for Everton would see them end a run of 2 straight defeats and move them up to 12th in the Premier League.

Team News

Simon Adingra is expected to return to the squad, following his hamstring injury, and Omar Alderete is still a doubt, but is a possibility to return after missing out against Chelsea due to concussion protocol.
