Sunderland VS QPR – Match Preview & Prediction

It’s the penultimate match in the regular Championship season, and Sunderland will be looking to put an end to their horrible form, and gain some confidence going into the playoffs.

Their opponents, QPR, have just placed their manager Martí Cifuentes Corvillo on gardening leave, assistant coaches Kevin Betsy and Xavi Calm will take charge of today’s match.

Both teams have struggled to pick up points lately, after both teams had a comfortable position in the league, and not much to play for.

Sunderland are sitting in 4th and they are unable to move higher or lower in the table.

QPR sit in a comfortable 15th, and a win for them could see them move as high as 13th.

It is undecided who Sunderland will face in the playoffs, and it could be any of Bristol City, Coventry, Millwall, Blackburn or Middlesbrough, so it will be an interesting day for sure.

Sunderland have lost their last 4 games, so they should be desperate to gain some sort of momentum going into Friday’s playoff first leg.

Team News

Dan Ballard is available for selection for tomorrow’s meeting with Queens Park Rangers at the Stadium of Light.

However, Romaine Mundle will not return to action tomorrow lunchtime, as Le Bris explained: “We don’t want to rush the process, but he will train with us on Sunday.

”Speaking about the overall condition of his first-team squad, Le Bris added: “We decided to rotate the squad to give minutes and experience to some other players, allowing others to refresh and not rush their return.

“We should be in a really good place with this approach.

We need the full squad available.”Over the past week, Ballard, Jenson Seelt, and Niall Huggins have all taken part in full training during the Lads’ warm-weather camp in Portugal, while Aji Alese and Mundle continued their respective programmes on the grass.
