The former Golden Lion Pub in South Hylton is going up for auction

The former Golden Lion Pub in South Hylton (or more accurately what’s left of it) is set to go under the hammer in a public auction scheduled for the 22nd October.

Completely destroyed by a fire in July 2019 caused by a suspect arson attack, the pub was an iconic feature of the South Hylton riverside and came at a significant loss to the community.

Now however, the pub has appeared on the real estate website rightmove indicating that it is now going up for auction.

The starting price however, or minimum expectation, is £55,000.

One can only hope someone with a lot of money and a passion for the area can spearhead the revival of this sadly lost revenue.
