Sunderland 2-1 Brentford – Match Report
Sunderland leave it ‘Til’ The End’ yet again, as Wilson Isidor’s 96th minute winner saw Sunderland come back from a goal down.
Sunderland move up to 6th in the Premier League, after they win both of their first 2 league hoke matches.
Brentford thought that they had took the lead in the first half, as Outtara ran through and slotted the ball home, but the goal was overturned by VAR.
Brentford had another golden chance to take the lead early in the second half, after Reinildo was penalized at the back post, but Kevin Schade’s penalty was saved by Robin Roefs.
Brentford did eventually take the lead with 13 minutes remaining, as Igor Thiago headed home on the back stick, as Trai Huke got caught out.
Sunderland then turned up the tempo, and less than 5 minutes later, the Black Cats won their own penalty after Rico Henry brought down Diarra after a corner.
Enzo Le Fee stepped up and sent their ‘keeper the wrong way, and Sunderland were level.
Le Fee then played a huge part in the winner at the end, as he kept the ball alive on the left wing, and laid it off to Granit Xhaka, who put in a peach of a ball for Wilson Isidor, and he headed home to give Sunderland their 2nd victory this season.
Next up for Sunderland is Crystal Palace away on the 13th September, due to the international break.
