Sheffield Wednesday 0-3 Sunderland – Match Report
Sunderland find it easy against a struggling Wednesday team, as they went 3-0 up in just 30 minutes, thanks to another brace from Jack Clarke.
It took just 5 minutes for Sunderland to get their first goal, and it came as Dan Ballard got on the end of a perfect corner by Alex Pritchard.
Just 3 minutes later, The Black Cats doubled their lead, as Mason Burstow played an excellent ball over the top to Jack Clarke, who then brought the ball down, cut inside and curled the ball into the corner from 20-yards-out.
In the 30th minute, Mason Burstow turned Bambo Diaby brilliantly, and Diaby pulled him down, and the referee pointed to the spot.
Jack Clarke stepped up to confidently put the ball past the goalkeeper, as he scored his second of the night, and his 7th this season, in 9 matches.
Many Wednesday fans saw enough, and began to leave, as the Sunderland supporters mocked them, singing: “You’re going down with the Boro”.
In the second half, Sunderland dominated the ball, and it looked almost like a training session throughout.
Wednesday did almost get a consolation goal right at the end, but Anthony Patterson pulled of a good, reaction save to deny a header by George Byers.
Sunderland are now 4th in the league, on 16 points and a goal difference of +10, which is currently the best goal difference in the league.
The Owl’s are still without a victory after 9 games, as they sit, stranded at the bottom of the league.
