£30,000–£33,000 a year.
Responsibilities
As a Motor Vehicle Mechanic, you will:
- Conduct vehicle inspections, servicing and routine maintenance.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
- Repair engines, brakes, suspension, steering and other vehicle systems.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults accurately.
- Carry out timing belt, clutch and other major mechanical repairs.
- Prepare repair recommendations and identify required parts.
- Complete work efficiently within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate job and service records.
- Keep the workshop and equipment clean, organised and safe.
- Follow health and safety procedures.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, suppliers and customers.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- Previous professional experience as a Vehicle Mechanic, Motor Vehicle Technician or similar.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs.
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A careful, reliable and quality-focused approach.
- A valid UK driving licence.
Relevant automotive qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, are advantageous. Strong practical experience will also be considered.
Experience with advanced diagnostics, engine repairs, hybrid or electric vehicles, or mobile vehicle repair would be an advantage.
