Millwall 1-1 Sunderland- Match Report & Player Ratings

Report
Dennis Cirkin scored a late equaliser as Sunderland earned a point at The Den, In what was a very scrappy match.
Millwall thought they had taken the lead on the half hour mark, but it was ruled out for offside.
Flemming took a shot from the edge of the box and Patterson could only parry the ball out straight to, former Sunderland man, George Honeyman, who prodded the into the net.
The referee went to speak to his linesman before ruling out the goal.
The first half was very stop-start throughout, with both sides giving away countless free-kicks.
Millwall started the second half the better of the 2 sides and Murray Wallace headed the ball off the bar following a free-kick just 10 minutes into the second half.
4 minutes later, Millwall took the lead from.a corner, which Sunderland just couldn’t clear before Jake Cooper managed to loop the ball in off the post.
Sunderland’s young side really struggled throughout against a very big and physical Millwall side.
But, they managed to stay in the game and eventually scored the equaliser 10 minutes before the final whistle.
Alex Pritchard’s free-kick was a beautiful ball into the area and Dennis Cirkin, bravely, headed home on his return.
Unfortunately for Dennis, he and the ‘keeper collided and Cirkin looked to have been out cold.
He did eventually get back to his feet, which is a good sign and hopefully he is OK!
The Black Cats move up to 9th, 2 points off the play-offs, whilst Millwall move to 7th in the table, one point ahead of Sunderland.
Player Ratings
Anthony Patterson – 6
He was lucky when it came to their disallowed goal, made a really good save in the second half from a George Honeyman effort.
Trai Hume – 6
Not his best game, defended really well at times, but he gave the ball away quite a few times too.
Danny Batth – 7
The usual calm performance from our most senior player.
Dan Ballard – 7
Also very calm on the ball and defended well at times too.
Aji Alese – 6
Not a bad performance, defended OK but he was quiet when we were in possession.
Dan Neil – 6
Very quiet in the first half, cane into life a but more in the second.
Edouard Michut – 6
Didnt to much wrong, but didn’t do much great either, an average performance.
Amad Diallo – 6
A bit of an off day from one of our best players this season, not much seemed to come off for him today.
Patrick Roberts – 7
Never stopped trying to make things happen. Had one great chance in the second half when he ran about 40-yards into the area, but his shot was eventually blocked.
Jack Clarke – 5
Most of our play came on the right, meaning Clarke just didn’t see much of the ball throughout.
Joe Gelhardt- 6
Didn’t receive much service and seemed isolated against 2 very physical centre-backs.
